Myconos
is one of Greece's most well known islands. It is famous to be the
destination of many celebrities and is widely acquaintance for its
intense night life.
The
island allocates an incredible folk architecture , a splendid naked
landscape, exceptional climate, a lot of beautiful sandy coasts
and has the privilege to be located near to the "Open Archeological
Museum" of Delos, the island of Apollo.
Hora
is the capital of Myconos, with 3,500 inhabitants. Apart to the

can find the group of Old Churches, which is acquaintant to the
tourists as Kouseyiares or Koutsoboles, in the district of Limni
(lake).
Myconians
have a lot of feasts, especially for the Orthodox Saints. The family
that takes care of each Church, untertakes the organizing of its
feast and offers the "sfahta" (meat). Dance is accompanied
by folk music played with traditional instruments such as Toumpakia
and Tsabounes.
The main feasts are the ones of Ayia Paraskevi on 26 July, of Virgin
Mary Tourliani on 15 August, Ayios Nicolaos on 6 December, while
the one of Ayios Apostolos on 30 June is the feast of fishermen.
This is the greatest "Paniyiri" and takes place at the
beach, where seafood is offered.
To
Myconos: From Piraeus and Rafina with a ferry. The island is also
connected by sea with Paros, Ios, Naxos, Syros, Santorini, and Crete.
By air there is connection with Athens, Rhodes, Herakleion and Santorini.

In addition cars and bikes are rented. Many regions are more easily
accessible by the sea, with large wooden boats and experienced seamen

Gastronomy:
Pork with cabbage or grasses, loutes which are local smoked pork,
sausages and of course the famous kopanisti. Also, do not forget
to taste seafood such as urchins in vinegret sauce, "peanes",
mussels and "fouskes".
You should buy: Traditional sweets, soumada (a bitter almond drink),
cold meat and cheese.
Fishing: Fish has been decreased lately. Be careful of the sudden
weather changes.
Sailing: You can leave your ship at the harbour of Hora.
Swimming: Most beaches of Mykonos are wonderful. For nudism and
unending dance you may choose Super Paradise, for crowds you should
choose Paradise and for glamour the beach of Ayios Sostis. You will
find golden sand in Ormos and Elia. Paranga is a place for Beach
Bar lovers, while Ayia Anna is suggested for peaceful swimming.
Other nice beaches are Kalo Livadi, Psarrou, Ai Yiannis, Lia, Kapari,
Tourlos, Ayios Stefanos, Kalafatis, Ftelia and Panormos.
